I haven't had much chance to post any updates this past few weeks because of all the editing that's going on but I've been at a couple of wedding fairs recently, Lodore Falls Hotel and Low Wood Hotel - today was at the Inn on the Lake. They've all been very well attended and enquiries are back up to pre recession levels so if your getting married in 2016 or 2017 my advice is to book what you need as soon as possible because it looks like being very busy indeed.

A marquee on the lawn at Cragwood Country House on a blustery day in July for Sally and Chris. Morning bridal preps with Aqua Bridal Hair and Definitions Mobile Beauty before a run up through the lakes to Keswick with Cars of Distinction for the church ceremony. Back for a fabulous barbecue followed by a cruise on Windermere. Photography by Tiree Dawson

The Lodore Falls Hotel sits at the southern end of Derwentwater and across the valley from Catbells - sounds pretty idyllic doesn't it - it is and especially on a fine June day. Eleanor and Michael married outside in the gazebo despite the interruptions from the local Herdwick sheep !! Charlene Bell of Beyond Imagination Photography made the very most of a great couple and fantastic surroundings especially on the after dinner stroll down to a perfect flat calm lakeside photoshoot. Singer / guitarist John Penn made sure the evening dance was a great ending to a great day.

Back up to Grasmere, this time at The Wordsworth Hotel in the centre of the village for the wedding of Victoria and Daniel. Steve Holcroft was there to take care of the photography including a quick outing down to the lakeside for some beautiful shots by a flat calm Grasmere. Victoria had a special surprise from her sister when bagpiper Alan Gagan blew the roof off at the end of the wedding breakfast. Singer/guitarist John Penn kept the party going for the evening event at the end of a great day out in the Lake District.

A couple of years ago I filmed Gemma and Matt's wedding at the Inn on the Lake so it was great to be asked to film Gemma's sister's wedding this May - but it wasn't at the IOTL ! An early Sunday morning start was needed for the trip over to Nicola and Simon's home town of Scarborough, over very misty moors, through the A1 road works and slowly, so slowly behind the beach bound day trippers. Brilliant vicar at St Mark's church, welcoming and helpful and what's more, the man can sing :) Brilliant service with lots of arm and hand actions to the hymns and much enjoyment by all - this is how it should be. Off for an afternoon tea at the Hackness Grange Hotel, drinks, games for the kids, photos by Neil Jackson who managed everything from classic family groups to Defenders of the Universe. The day was topped with the best dance routine I've ever seen at a wedding - not by the bride and groom but by the groomsmen!! Great day out, love to do it again !

It started out with that low cloud and fine drizzle in the air that can take all day to clear but slowly and surely the clouds began to break and as Sarah and Andrew walked down the aisle at St. Oswald's Church in Grasmere the sun came out to greet them - perfect :) Then off to the Low Wood Hotel on Windermere for a great reception. The lakeside photo shoot with Carl and Rachel of Simply Perfection Photography just got better and better when the crew of one of the cruisers moored at the hotel jetty invited everyone for a beer - it's a hard life :)

A huge thank you to all the couples who voted for me in the recent County Brides 2015 awards - it's a great feeling to know that your work has been recognised by the people that really matter - the bride and groom, their friends and families :)
